Motivation as an Essential Factor in Back Pain Relief

Essentially, yoga focuses on a person’s well-being. It is not intended to be a therapeutic means for curing a certain disease. A person who does yoga is trained to adopt a new lifestyle and means of thinking in a holistic manner. Once it is achieved, you can begin to feel the healing powers of yoga, especially when it comes to shoulder, neck, and back pains. As soon as you start practicing yoga, you can feel that you difficulties in life become less of a burden to you. In fact, clinical studies support such claims by yoga practitioners.

When done regularly, yoga gives a person the awareness of the areas of pain or discomfort in the body. Yoga will help you know which areas of your body are strong and can relieve stress, which in turn can help in healing. Depending on your focus, time, and commitment, you can gradually learn the exercises that will help you a lot and then start to create your own routine.

Studies prove that regular exercise is beneficial for people who have chronic lower back pain. But sadly, most people with chronic back pain fail to go on with their exercise program. According to scientists, part of the reason is that their doctors do not give them enough motivation to continue the exercise program.

A study explored the effect of positive feedback and motivation on people who suffer from chronic lower back pain. The study found that most of those who begin a regular exercise give up after a short time. The most common reason for not continuing the exercise program include lack of motivation, lack of time, and the ease of slipping back into old ways.

If you feel your motivation starts to go down, ask a partner to help you go on with your exercise. It would be much better if you and your partner have the same goals in gaining healthy diet, weight loss, and the intensity of your exercise. Pick a partner who lives near your home or better yet, someone from your household like your spouse or sibling. Set particular dates and amounts of exercises so that you can increase your exercises together. Also, think of how you can reward yourselves after you have met your goals.
