Micky – Glen’s Little Helper

Hi

My name is Micky - the Mouse that is, no not the famous one yet! But you never know.

My task is to help Glen on the computer, to send out emaiols and the like, so you must forgive any typos etc. Have you ever tried typing with long finger nails? You think you are hitting one key and end up hitting two! Many have ask who I am, and what do I look like. So Glen and me had a little chat to see what pix he had on file of me and for me to write a little about myself. So here goes.

I am a Long Tailed Field Mouse, sometimes called a Wood Mouse. I have dark brown fur, large eyes and ears, about 10 cms long and weigh about 30 grams.

I will live just about anywhere there is food and shelter. I traditionally roams fields, hedgerows, forests and grass lands where it can find plenty of food. We are omnivorous and will eat a range of seeds, berries, invertebrates, worms, carrion and other similar food. We tend to have a short life in the wild as so many different creatures prey on us (I don't know why, we so lovable), with an average age between 6 and 12 months, although we live longer in captivity and when conditions are favourable.

So being with Glen I have a LONGGG life in front of me, he takes care of me and I take care of him.

I nest wherever there is cover and warmth, this usually means below ground but I can also be found in hedgerows, buildings, car radiators and other similar dwellings. But with Glen I'm by the radiator under his desk snugglked up until he wants me.

I am generally nocturnal animal with superb hearing and vision (hence the large eyes and ears), because of this I am a vital source of food for other larger nocturnal hunters such as owls, etc. So I'm safe with Glen.

I'm so glad that many of you have asked after me, I am truly grateful. If you have any ideas that you think that would help, please let us know. I am REALLY a lovable little mouse that you could easliy hold in your hand, could you mange to hold me? I'm sure I won't frighten you.

I look forward to hearing from you, agian thank you for asking after me and contributing to this site.

Namaste

Micky

PS. A headstand for a mouse is not easy, take care with yours, BFN.
