Lower back pain can be extremely uncomfortable and irritating but there are ways to treat it that won't require you taking lots of strong pain killers. Disc degeneration, spinal stenosis that produce neck and back pain.  Sleeping on a soft or sagging mattress also can lead to back pain.  A common misconception about back pain is that you need to rest and avoid activity for a long time.  Yoga is the number one most effective exercise for relieving back pain.

It is a great way to compliment your chiropractic care or decompression therapy.  Yoga and back pain: A two-year $250,000 federal grant will fund a pilot study of the effectiveness of yoga as treatment for low back pain. Do you really think that this kind of money would be used if it didn't work?  Provided yoga is practised with care, it is a very safe activity and provides a great many benefits to normal healthy people as well as those with some sort of problem.

Strength, stamina and balance are normally increased through yoga asanas or postures, although most yoga is not at all aerobic.  It is emphasised that yoga is not really an academic exercise, but very much a practical experiential journey.  Yoga is dynamite to make you feel younger with heightened mental prowess. 
There is much that you can do if you have back, neck or shoulder pain. And an effective way of losing your back pain is with the practice of yoga. Using specific exercises for particular issues like back, neck or shoulder pain you can begin to make improvements to your body.

If you have back pain then there are probably other areas of your body that may well be taking the strain as well as referred pain.  You may experience a tingling sensation down your leg sometimes called Sciatica and there are some wonderful exercises to do for this. As long as you take care you will be alright. The important thing is to keep the blood flow going and good quality blood at that (good diet etc).

By keeping the body mobile will help you to overcome or at least make your situation better. Leg stretches and twists are good for the back and there are many variations to the poses. You can be as passive or dynamic as you wish. Of course if you are new to yoga them you will start off to be slow and gentle. The more you practice the more flexible you will become and the stronger you will become.
