So when you see it like that it all makes sense. We need to nip it in the bud before it develops. As Dr Mark Wiley says “It is my hope that you can now see that traditional healers have known all along: that the mind and the body, physical and emotional states are interconnected as intricately as the world wide web, and equally interdependent in terms of illness, pain and healing”.
We have many challenges in life and we are not always aware of what the body takes on until something in our body tells us. Regular yoga exercise is a wonderful way to help keep you free from back pain and other disorders in the body. If we can keep a mentality of well being in the mind top practice regular exercise then we will experience many benefits in the short AND long term.
As we get older the body seems to slow down, but by the practice of yoga we tend to reverse the ageing process and look and feel younger. Apply self massage daily – just a few minutes and this process will be enhanced. You live longer and grow younger. What a nice thought, think it and you will become it. A positive mind is needed and you will have ‘negative thoughts’ creeping in taking you your course, you need to be steadfast in your thoughts. Your yoga practice can be little and often or as much as you would like to do, the more you put in the more you get out.
Motivation is a big part in keeping your yoga practice going. Some days you will feel really upbeat about and others you will not. I have in the past and occasionally have stopped my yoga practice to try to see it from the other side, from your side that is. To see what I can learn from being in that position, as everyone is different and experiences things differently. I can then apply that knowledge and pass it on.
It can be difficult to keep up your practice and with other areas of your life demanding your time. How can you fit it all in?
This is how I try to deal with motivating myself when I feel less motivated to practice. However, because I have practiced yoga daily over the years ones body gets used to that routine so in reality I do practice yoga daily in some shape or form, it’s a way of life. But as I said for those who find it difficult to keep up this is for you. I cannot claim this to be my idea, I learnt it from Deepak Chopra who when doing studies in his hospitals found that by stimulating the senses patients recovered quickly.
He found that the simple things brought quick results. A common thing most people associate with hospitals is that they can smell of disinfectant, so what did he do? He changed the smells by choosing fragrances that made you feel good. The smell of sweet flowers, lavender etc to stimulate the sense of smell. And he did this with all the senses. You can do the same. When you are in that position (loss of motivation) your are not in inspired, you are not in spirit so do something to stimulate your senses. It works wonders.
