Neck and Back Pain Part 2

Muscles

Asanas like Salabhasana (Locust Pose) and Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) – backbends in which the weight of the head is lifted against gravity – provide the most strengthening benefits for the back of the neck muscles.  Besides avoiding alignments and poses that flatten the neck too much, you should also work on strengthening the muscles that help support your cervical curve.  Incorrect posture throws the head forward and puts a tremendous amount of stress on the muscles in the back of the neck and upper shoulders.

Therapy

Another study found that breathing exercises were as effective as an antidepressant drug for patients who were severely depressed, but less effective than electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).  Half of the men underwent standard treatment for 9 months: physiotherapy, that included relaxation techniques, breathing exercises and general workouts to improve stamina.  The men who had practiced yoga showed a significant improvement in their ability to exercise, but the physiotherapy group did not.

Body

I now use the yoga poses I have learned in class along with the videos as a personal “tool box” for taking care of my body.  When the nerve is pinched, one of the possible symptoms is numbness of the area of the body this nerve normally controls.  Finally, as if we didn't have enough, the body "notices" the energy consuming muscle that does nothing (there is no moves involved in spasm), so new fibers of connecting tissue are growing, creating the foundation for the future problems.

Treatment

Yoga is a fantastic form of preventative and health care and with regular practice you can alleviate neck and back pain while avoiding high costs associated with medical treatment.  Making Sense of Pain Relief often pain management for back and neck problems includes alternative therapies as part of a larger allopathic plan, rather than as a solo treatment.  Learn how to evaluate pain management options and incorporate alternative medicine into your treatment plan as appropriate for your back or neck condition.  Hypertension The relaxation and exercise components of yoga have a major role to play in the treatment and prevention of high blood pressure.

Spinal

In fact, the subluxation complex, which simply means a spinal bone or vertebrae has fallen out of alignment, is almost always overlooked when a patient is first examined by their physician for neck pain.  On one side, the exercises are good for the discs, and lifting the disc we may reduce the pressure on the spinal cord.  Muscle Pains (Myalgia) Yoga is believed to reduce pain by helping the brain's pain center regulate the gate-controlling mechanism located in the spinal cord and the secretion of natural painkillers in the body.  Nervous System:  A system in the body that is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, ganglia and parts of the receptor organs that receive and interpret stimuli and transmit impulses to effector organs.
