Spine
Another important feature of the spine is its link with the physiology of the body. The spine makes up the central nervous system, but also it is the central support for the trunk, which contains most of our important organs. When your spine experiences a problem, an imbalance occurs in our entire system and causes aches & pains throughout the body.
Forward bends (stretches) are prescribed to stretch & release spine, and to create space between the vertebrae. If you continue to forcefully forward bend, you can incur damage, so treat your body with respect and avoid ‘over working’ the body.
Essentially, when you stretch the spine, as with yoga, you are creating additional space between joints etc releasing pressure caused by an injury.
By practicing yoga, the flow of cerebrospinal fluids is enhanced and the increased awareness of skull and spine assist in their transformation and realignment. The spine is elongated and a clear pathway for awareness and prana to flow is created.

Bow or Dhanurasana. This pose is effective in straightening upper spine hunches. As an inversion it reverses the effects of gravity, decompresses the spine and helps re-align the arms with the shoulders. Either you are sitting, standing, working, sleeping or relaxing; your back spine is most comfortable in what is called a neutral posture.
