There are various types of medical treatment and health care products that are helpful in easing back pain. Combined with a proper diet and yoga, the following tips can help those looking to enhance their wellbeing and age gracefully.
Heat Therapy. Easy and inexpensive, heat therapy relieves many forms of lower back pain. The therapeutic value of heat may be combined with other treatment programs and yoga.
To understand the cause of back pain, it helps to learn how the muscles support the skeletal structure of the body. To relieve back pain, one must do exercises that strengthen and relax the muscles in the neck, shoulders, buttocks and legs.
Diet and Exercise. Exercise must always be coupled with proper diet. Key to a healthy diet is sufficient water intake. Consumption of meats and animal proteins should be at a minimum, as the high uric content of these foods strains the kidneys which ultimately result in back pain. Oily, fatty, sweet and processed foods should also be avoided, as they exacerbate back pain. Vitamin B12 and Magnesium are good supplements to a healthy diet and aids in back pain relief.
Breathing Exercise. A basic breathing exercise involves taking a cross-legged sitting or corpse initial position. Take in one long, deep breath, filling the abdominal area and consciously pressing the air into the lower areas. Next, put palms on the knees, arch forward and press the lower body against the knees. This opens the chest cavity forwards, allowing the pressure to stay in the lungs and in the lower abdomen. A forward arch of the spine, without opening the rib cage or raising the shoulders, fills the upper area of the lungs. This breathing exercise helps ease pain in the back.
Breathing practices promotes unity between the mind, body and spirit. Achieving this unity effectively releases tension, reduces stress and restores equilibrium. This meditation and relaxation technique is only one among many that help people with physical and mental health problems. Anxiety and nausea are reduced; calm during challenging treatments is achieved. Annuloma- Viloma, or alternate nostril breathing has also proven beneficial in uplifting the quality of life of many people.
Consider also massage. There are many forms of massage and each has their own discipline. Yoga is a form of massage, where the body and muscles are stretched and compressed moving the blood flow and toxins from the body, this will help keep the body in a good condition and ward off any 'dis-ease'.
