Shoulder Pain Secrets Part 1

A poor posture over a long period of time creates strain in a particular region and that region happens to be your upper back, in case you are a computer operator and work throughout the day in front of your PC. Neck and shoulder pain are the comrades in arms -of the upper back pain. Here are few more causes of upper back pain: Lack of strength in the particular region.

Nearly every case of shoulder blade pain is due to a problem in the lower part of the neck or in the upper part of the back. This pattern of pain is known as referred pain. Referred pain from the neck is usually felt along the inner side of the shoulder blade - the side nearest the spine in other words.

Yoga postures focus on building core shoulder strength, opening the chest and relaxation of the upper shoulder and neck muscles.

Yoga is not a fad; it is a science that is recognized all over the world, re-establishing its credibility as an ancient discipline dating back ten thousand years ago and will help you with shoulder and back pain.

The two major causes of neck and upper back pain or thoracic spine pain are mysofascial pain and joint dysfunctional pain. Myofasical pain is a muscular irritation. This results from muscle strains, from sports and other activities, over and under use of the muscle, sudden movements like being thrown forward in a car accident. This primarily affects the large muscles that support the shoulder blades.

Medical professionals can help you assess and also treat the cause of upper back, shoulder pain and neck pain as well as pain management. Other professionals such as physical therapist, orthopaedic surgeons and chiropractic professional can also be of assistance.

The treatment of shoulder blade pain will in part depend on the cause that your doctor or therapist discovers. The commonest cause is related to the neck or cervical spine and treatment is usually best directed at this area.

The forward head is a surprising hidden source of shoulder pain and impingement. With the head held forward, it rotates the upper shoulder forward (round shouldered) which gets in the way of normal motion when you raise your arm. The upper arm bone squashes the soft structures of the shoulder capsule against the shoulder bone (where the scapula meets the clavicle). This can cause pain, squashing (impingement) and rotator cuff injury. How often does this happen? Every time you wash and comb your hair, pull off a shirt, put away groceries, stretch your head, brush your teeth, and reach for anything - in short, a forward head can cause shoulder pain and upper back and neck pain many dozens of times a day. The injury adds up over time.
